The article discusses the features of the operation of ship power plants in areas of special environmental control in the context of the introduction of restrictions by the International Maritime Organization in 2020. Particular attention is paid to such innovative technologies as the use of fuel with a low sulfur content, the introduction of SCR technologies, regulation of the cruising speed of the vessel, the introduction of EGR -technologies application of gas fuel.
