Hie work presents an overview ot modem scientitic research in the tield of fleet management of a shipping company based on mathematical modeling ot production activities. A systematic analysis of the works of various authors made it possible to determine the main approaches to the construction of mathematical models and consider methods for their solution in the tield of research of technological processes of the tleet. Hie main purpose ot this analytical review is to study the capabilities of the mathematical apparatus and adapt it for solving problems related to the management of the tleet of a small shipping company. As a result of the performed research, the following conclusions were made. The available mathematical apparatus for making managerial decisions in the field of fleet management does not meet the requirements of the transport market segment accounted for by small shipping companies. In addition, in a number of scientific works, an opinion is presented at the level of a hypothesis and not confirmed by scientific research that there is no need to apply mathematical modeling within the framework of automated systems for current and operational planning for such companies. Consequently, there is a need to carry out research work, which will scientifically prove the need or unnecessary implementation of mathematical modeling in the activities of small shipping companies.
