ANALYSIS OF MODERNIZATION OF FUEL EQUIPMENT OF THE DIESEL SERIES GL MAN B&W FOR USE OF ETHAN
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article is devoted to the analysis of the parameters of the fuel equipment of a low-speed GI-series diesel engine from MAN B&W during the transition from LNG to ethane, which has different characteristics. The composition of natural gas mainly includes methane from 85 to 99%. Ethane has a significant difference from methane in physical and heat engineering characteristics, for example, an increased density of almost 2 times that of methane. Therefore, an analysis was made of all fuel equipment and gas pipelines for ethane, to which the gas carrier vessel was oriented in operation. The calculations were carried out according to the well-known gas dynamics technique. The results of the analysis of the properties of gases and the parameters of the elements of the gas system indicates that all fuel equipment can be used to work on ethane without changes and reconstruction.
