Linear shipping is a certain section of the world freight market, distinguished from tramp dry cargo and tanker shipments by regular shipments of mostly general cargoes in small batches according to a set schedule. Prior to 2022, major liner carriers were foreign companies with their own production facilities to arrange delivery of export-import cargoes between different continents and ports of a certain geographical section. Under the influence of certain geopolitical factors, this market segment has undergone certain changes, which have opened up new opportunities for domestic logistics and freight forwarding companies to expand their business. In this regard, the topic of the study is relevant. Within the framework of the article the authors denote the key distinguishing features of the liner shipping market, top 10 world liner carriers, current changes in this section of the sea shipping market, as well as new directions of shipments which have developed under the influence of modern prohibitions and restrictions are presented. A special attention in the work is given to the author's conceptual approach to making a decision on opening a new transportation direction in line shipping. The results of practical calculations proved the possibility to apply this idea in practical activities of logistics and forwarding companies
